In contrast to paper, papyrus has an uneven area that visibly retains the initial construction in the ribbon-like strips that make it up. Given that the papyrus is labored, it tends to interrupt apart together the seams, resulting in prolonged linear cracks and sooner or later slipping apart.[2]
